Card Types

Different types of cards can be polled from the device, though not all devices support all card types. Each card displays one complete stroke in a load versus position graph. Load is displayed in pounds, and surface position is displayed in inches.

The following card types are listed with their associated toolbar icons.

Get Current Card Get Current Card

A current card describes the most recent stroke stored in the RTU. Typical devices maintain five current cards in their registers, although some hold only one. This card type is used for analyzing real-time pump information. The Poll > Get Current Cards command lets you obtain more than one current card at a time (see Custom Card Requests).

Current card information is displayed by default in a surface position plot. It is also possible to display it as a downhole card, or show both the surface and downhole plots at once. To display a downhole card, be sure that the DDS is configured to retrieve downhole information from the device.

Get Shutdown Card Get Shutdown Card

A shutdown card, or pumpoff card, is generated when the pump is turned off, usually to wait for the reservoir to fill. This command retrieves the most recent shutdown card. Most devices store the previous five shutdown cards.

Get Pumpup Card Get Pumpup Card

A pumpup card is generated when the pump starts again after having been shutdown. This command retrieves the most recent pumpup card.

Get Shutdown and Pumpup Card Pair Get Shutdown and Pumpup Card Pair

A card pair refers to the most recent shutdown card and its successive pumpup card. When this command is executed, both cards will be returned and added to the view set.

Get Start Card Get Start Card

A start card is stored by some devices and is similar to a pumpup card. This command retrieves the most recent start card.

Get Reference Card Get Reference Card

A reference card is a card of any type that is stored for reference in the CygNet system, and sometimes in the device itself. This command retrieves the most recently stored reference card.

Get Alarm Card

An alarm card is created whenever an alarm condition is met in a field device. Such a condition is typically treated as less severe than a fault, which creates a failure card. This command retrieves the most recently stored alarm card.

Get Failure Card

A failure card is created whenever a fault condition is met in a field device. Such a condition is typically treated as more severe than an alarm, which creates an alarm card. This command retrieves the most recently stored failure card.
